The level crossings on Brayford Wharf East were stuck three times in less than 24 hours, with the latest failure lasting nearly 45 minutes.

The barriers were stuck for 20 minutes during the evening, and a further 10 minutes the following morning.

Later in the afternoon the barriers were stuck between 1.20pm and 2.05pm, causing huge queues of both pedestrians and motorists.

A Network Rail worker was seen ushering pedestrians away, and telling motorists that they needed to take a different route. Network Rail insist they are working as quickly as possible to repair the signal failures and reiterate that people must not jump over the barriers.

Trains are still operating as usual.

Lincoln TapHouse and Kitchen has unveiled a new set of igloos that boast stunning views of the Cathedral and the Castle.

These domes sit on the roof of the restaurant, are three and a half metres wide and are made from clear PVC and timber. Each dome contains sheepskin blankets and built in heaters.

Patrons of the domes will be given a choice from an exclusive gin cocktail range, and an á la carte menu. Customer Chloé Jackson said: “It’s so nice to be able to dine under the stars, especially with the stunning view of the Cathedral in front of you.”

“It is an experience I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a special night out in Lincoln.” It is free to book for tables of eight, and prices for smaller groups start from £25 to £150, depending on what you book.

10 bars and pubs in Lincoln have announced they are offering free drinks testing over the next six months, aimed at keeping people safe on nights out.

The 10 venues include Strait and Narrow, Rogue Saint, The Scene, The Curiosity Shop, Trebles, Cardinal's Hat, Home, Fever and Boutique, Slug and Lettuce, and Vice and Co.

Notably absent from the list are Engine Shed, run by the Student Union and Moka, which runs the popular Superbull event.

When contacted on this issue, the Student Union declined to comment.

Research company Drug Lab 118 is trialling the Drink Detective narcotic-testing kits in the 10 venues, which will provide feedback for future development.

A victim of drink spiking, who wants to remain anonymous, said: "It definitely makes me feel safer knowing that there is protection against the vulnerable.

"I felt violated by the perpetrator and can't understand why people do this."

The tests can easily detect the presence of ketamine, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, amphetamine, rohypnol and more in drinks.

The kit consists of three 'fobs' which will show whether there is a drug in the drink or not.

This follows on from the 'Ask for Angela' scheme that gives drinkers an opportunity to ask bar staff for help, should they feel threatened.

Colin Lyon, CEO of Drug Lab 118 said: "Drug Lab 118 developed the Drink Detective test and created the #notinmydrink campaign to raise awareness of the endemic issue of drink spiking in parts of society."

Lincolnshire Police has said that although there is no evidence to suggest drink-spiking is a reoccurring issue in the county, it is important to raise awareness.

A University of Lincoln student's design will be used as the next cover of Visit Lincoln's What's On guide.

The designs are on display at the Chapter House in Lincoln Cathedral.

Visitors have been asked to vote for their favourite.

The guide will be focused on RAF centenary celebrations and Europe's largest streampunk festival.

Rachael Bishop and Amanda McSorley held the competition for third-year illustration students.

Amanda said: "When we chose RAF 100 and Steampunk as a subject we did wonder if we had been too restrictive, but we needn't have worried as the exhibition has some really diverse pieces."

The exhibition also includes a video installation by the winner of the UK-wide Ideas Festival and Lincoln Minister School student, Ben Harris.

The new emergency hub for police, fire and ambulance services is already £3 million over the original budget.

In the most recent budget, Lincolnshire County Council estimated the cost at £18.2 million.

When originally announced, the cost was set at £15 million, but that rose to £16 million in 2017.

The building will be situated on the South Park site, where Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and East Midlands Ambulance Service currently operate.

It will house 180 staff from all three emergency services, with specific office spaces, operational accommodation and shared areas.

The county council expect the building to be complete and operational by March 2019.

Lincolnshire County Council development manager, Dave Pennington, told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "We feel very confident that we are building a hub that is right and fit for services.

"It protects frontline services here in Lincoln and it assures service delivery for the generation beyond."

The shared emergency hub will save money and enable better communication between the emergency services, according to the county council.

Demolition of Lincoln South Fire Station and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Headquarters began this week.

Lincoln fire services are currently based in the police headquarters in Nettleham.

Police officers will also be moving out of the West Parade station in the coming months.

County councillors approved plans to sell the land after the move.
