The Imps defeated Peterborough United 4-2 at Sincil Bank in the Checkatrade Trophy.

The Imps booked their place in the next round of the competition after goals from Danny Rowe, Matt Rhead, Harry Anderson and Matt Green, despite falling behind to an own goal by Neal Eardley.

Lincoln City’s final two goals came in added time at the end of the second half, in a dramatic finish after coming back twice from being behind. 6,663 supporters were in attendance to watch the game.

The draw for the Semi-final will take place tonight, 25th January and Shrewsbury Town, Chelsea U21s and Yeovil/Fleetwood Town are possible opponents for the Imps.

One fixture will be played on 6th February and the other on 27th February which will involve either Yeovil or Fleetwood Town after their game was postponed until 6th February.

The reason for this being that Yeovil Town were allowed an extra days training ahead of their Emirates FA Cup tie against Manchester United.

The Semi- final will only be a one-legged tie with the winning sides booking their place centre stage at Wembley on Saturday 8th April 2018.

Interestingly again this year Premier League sides decided to use the competition to give their academy players a run out.

Chelsea’s under-21s become the first team of its type to reach the semi-finals after beating Oxford United 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

A place at Wembley would be Lincoln City’s first in their history after reaching the Quarter-finals of the FA Cup last season.

The diner on Lincoln’s Brayford Waterfront will be closed for a revamp with a re-opening date yet to be announced, after the doors closed on January 16.

The Brayford team posted on Facebook saying ‘We’re closed until further notice but don’t go far, we’ll be back soon’.

The restaurant opened just under 7 years ago in May 2011 and dodged falling into administration like nine of the chains diners did last year, in cities such as Leicester, Manchester and Birmingham.

This isn’t the first restaurant on the waterfront to be closed recently for a makeover as Nandos did the same four months ago.

The David Chiddick building had to be evacuated on Tuesday, after a fire caused students to evacuate across the road to Tower Bar.

The building, which is located on the Brayford Pool, was evacuated just before 2pm.

The fire took place on the ground floor and fire services said it was contained within 30 minutes.

A large grey door barred the Café entrance for a few hours afterwards.

Declan Hill, a student at the University of Lincoln, said: "I was walking to my seminar at 2pm and then I got a message from a course mate, saying that the DCB had been evacuated."

When he arrived at the building he said: "It smelt like burning plastic, the fire marshals had their hi-vis jackets on which they only use if it's a major situation."

Students were asked to return to their designated rooms for the remainder of their classes.

Mr. Hill said "I felt nervous going back in because they didn't really explain anything to us."

Evacuated: Students missed thirty minutes of lectures during the blaze

Lincoln City FC will be playing at Wembley Stadium for the first time in the club's history on April 28.

The Imps came close to Wembley in last year's FA Cup, reaching the quarter-final, only to be beaten 5-0 by Arsenal.

This season the wait is finally over, after Lincoln beat Chelsea U21s on penalties in the semi-final of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Danny Cowley told LincSport: "Wembley means everything, it's the pinnacle and we've had to fight really hard tonight."

The League two side have the chance to win another trophy after winning the National League title last season.

The game went to penalties after both sides failed to score a winner in normal and extra time.

The score on penalties was 4-2 in favour of Lincoln City FC.

Lee Frecklington kept his cool to slot away the winning penalty and sent the Imps fans wild.

Lee Frecklington told LincSport: "My main focus when I was walking to the penalty spot was my daughter, she told me this morning that she really wants to go to Wembley, I had to do it for her".

Tickets prices for the final have been announced on the club's website, however sale dates and details to be released shortly.
