Rail barriers by the University fail for 45 minutes
Stuck: The notorious rail barriers failed commuters once again
The level crossings on Brayford Wharf East were stuck three times in less than 24 hours, with the latest failure lasting nearly 45 minutes.
The barriers were stuck for 20 minutes during the evening, and a further 10 minutes the following morning.
Later in the afternoon the barriers were stuck between 1.20pm and 2.05pm, causing huge queues of both pedestrians and motorists.
A Network Rail worker was seen ushering pedestrians away, and telling motorists that they needed to take a different route. Network Rail insist they are working as quickly as possible to repair the signal failures and reiterate that people must not jump over the barriers.
Trains are still operating as usual.
